Cross Country remash poem

original poem

Perfect Technique

That inexplicable moment

Where time does not exist

The mind focused and completely empty

After training the body and mind

In that moment the body aching

Yet making the technique look easy

The technique seeming to simply happen of it’s own will

Bob’s interpretation

Cross Country
I inch towards the starting line.
Calm
My breath seems to slow.
“You must remain motionless until the gun is fired.”
I held my start position.
All the training has led up to this moment.
Bang
The gun goes off and the pack leaps forward
as we all pursue our separate glory.
(Remash poem)

Kayaking Trials

That moment where time does not exist

I inch towards the starting line.

Calm

My breath seems to slow.

“The commands will be

ready, set, go ”

I hold my start position.

Mind focused and completely empty

All the training has led up to this moment.

go

The pack leaps forward

as we all pursue our separate glory.

Driving forward with our legs

Body aching

Yet making technique look easy

Fifty meters left

Push

I cross the line just behind the pack

panting, happy

I just learned more in that fifty seconds than in two months
